iOS 9.3.2 beta 2 is Out For Registered Developers

The ability to use iOS 9.3’s headlining Night Shift feature when an iPhone is in Low Power Mode has been reinstated in a second beta of iOS 9.3.2 that was seeded to Apple’s registered developers this morning, as noted by eagle-eyed users on Twitter and first reported on by MacRumors.

Night Shift and Low Power Mode worked simultaneously on prior iOS 9.3 betas, but that feature was later removed without explanation in iOS 9.3 beta 4.

“With iOS 9.3.2 beta 2, you can turn on Low Power Mode when Night Shift is on,” reports MacRumors. You can also ask Siri to enable Low Power Mode when an iPhone running iOS 9.3.2 beta 2 is in Low Power Mode though it seems that a Siri backend hasn’t been updated yet because you must enable Night Shift before asking Siri to turn on Low Power Mode.

On the current iOS 9.3.1 software, venturing to Settings → Display & Brightness → Night Shift when an iPhone is in Low Power Mode will treat you to a greyed-out switch an a message saying that “Night Shift is disabled in Low Power Mode”.

It’s unclear whether the ability for Night Shift to be used when Low Power Mode is active will make it into a public release of iOS 9.3.2. Of course, you can also use Control Center’s Night Shift toggle to enable that feature when an iPhone running the latest beta is in Low Power Mode.

Apple issues first beta of iOS 9.3.2 to Developers

Apple issues first beta of iOS 9.3.2 to Developers

After the release of iOS 9.3.1 which fixed a link issue Apple has released a new iOS 9.3.2 update for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Apple has released the first watchOS 2.2.1 betas for developers following the watch OS 2.2 release.

Apple issued iOS 9.3.2 beta 1 to the public this morning and is identified as build 13F51a, the other update for watchOS 2.2.1 carries the build number of 13V413, while tvOS 9.2.1 is build 13Y5742b. Previously, the 'x.x.1' upgrades for all four builds would suggest that Apple is planning to squash bugs and fix issues rather than introduce more features to its OS. The company usually saves new features for both point-one releases.

The release notes for iOS 9.3.2 Beta 1 haven't been determined as yet, we can only determine that there is improvements and bug fixes.

We advise anyone to stay clear of these updates if you want to maintain your Jailbreak.

Apple Releases Updated Version of iOS 9.2.1 to Fix Devices Bricked by 'Error 53'

Apple today released an updated version of iOS 9.2.1, which is designed to prevent the "error 53" device-bricking message that some iOS users received after having their iPhones or iPads repaired by third-party services using components not sourced from the original device.

Non-matching repair components that affected the Touch ID fingerprint sensor caused an iOS device to fail a Touch ID validation check because the mismatched parts were unable to properly sync. The validation check occurred during an iOS update or restore, and when failed, Apple disabled the iPhone, effectively "bricking" it in an effort to protect Touch ID and the related Secure Enclave that stores customer fingerprint information.

Apple originally explained that error 53 was intentional, implemented as a way to prevent the use of a malicious Touch ID sensor that could be used to gain access to the Secure Enclave, but customers with bricked devices were not happy with the explanation and Apple found itself facing a class-action lawsuit.

Today's update will restore iPhones and iPads that have been disabled due to "error 53" to full working condition and it will ensure that future iOS devices that have had similar repairs will not be fully disabled. Touch ID will not, however, be accessible until Apple-authorized repairs are made to a device affected by the issue.

Alongside the new version of iOS 9.2.1, Apple has also published a support document outlining how customers can resolve the "error 53" problem, and it has issued an apology, shared by TechCrunch. Apple now says the error 53 bricking issue was meant to be a factory test and was never intended to affect customers.

"Some customers' devices are showing 'Connect to iTunes' after attempting an iOS update or a restore from iTunes on a Mac or PC. This reports as an Error 53 in iTunes and appears when a device fails a security test. This test was designed to check whether Touch ID works properly before the device leaves the factory.

Today, Apple released a software update that allows customers who have encountered this error message to successfully restore their device using iTunes on a Mac or PC.

We apologize for any inconvenience, this was designed to be a factory test and was not intended to affect customers. Customers who paid for an out-of-warranty replacement of their device based on this issue should contact AppleCare about a reimbursement."

The updated version of iOS 9.2.1 is available through iTunes and is not designed for customers who update their devices over the air. It can be downloaded on the iPhone 6, 6s, 6 Plus, 6s Plus, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4, iPad Air 2, and iPad Pro.
